Krista Brown

Teacher

Krista Brown has been teaching in one form or another for over 25 years. She holds a degree in Liberal Studies and a teaching credential from Long Beach State. Her experience includes teaching kindergarten and first grade in public schools, homeschooling, and nearly a decade of teaching at The Arbor Learning Community.

Krista’s journey with The Arbor began when her daughter attended as a student. Inspired by the community’s creative and nurturing environment, she joined the teaching staff. She has since taught a wide range of language arts and art classes for students in grades 1 through 8.

Krista finds great joy in watching her students grow as writers—from learning to form simple sentences to eventually publishing their own books. She especially loves integrating art into the writing process, helping students step into imaginative worlds that spark creativity and storytelling.

Outside of the classroom, Krista appreciates spending time in nature—whether it’s hiking a local trail or exploring somewhere new when she travels. She also enjoys reading (especially a good mystery) and is always eager to try new artistic hobbies. Krista is a devoted animal lover and shares her home with her two beloved dogs, Jasper and Ruby.

Krista feels thankful to be part of a community that leads with heart, nurtures imagination, and always puts the child at the center of the learning.
