Lucia Henry

Teacher

Lucia has been an artist and an art instructor for the past 25 years. She was born in Lima, Peru, and has always been interested in some form of creative exploration and expression. She got a taste for arts education in the early 90’s, when as a college arts student, she taught drawing, painting and clay sculpture to young pupils at different private schools and throughout Lima, Peru. Lucia holds degrees in Graphic Design, Marketing & Advertising and Interior Design. She teaches a wide variety of drawing, painting and clay sculpture classes for schools and organizations throughout OC, such as the Irvine Fine Arts Center, Art & Creativity for Healing, Inc., the Huntington Beach Art Center, the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center, Brea gallery, private retreats, online and in beautiful places abroad. Lucia refers to her artwork as canvas journals, as she believes that art is the most wonderful and pure form of non-verbal self-expression. Her pieces are very textural, with a use of bold colors, and reflect somehow her graphic design background in the need to add text within the work, and to convey a message using lots of symbolism. Her work reproduces familiar visual signs rearranged into new conceptually layered pieces. A bit surreal, Lucia’s work is her final interpretation of one’s life’s desires, fears, happiness, and of course passion. Let’s create together!
