Wanting to further her education in the area of Genetics, she attended UC Davis for two years. After that time, Ms. Susan received her teaching certificate from UCI and began teaching high school science in Santa Ana for six years. Upon the birth of her second daughter, Ms. Susan decided to take a hiatus from teaching and become a full-time homemaker for five years. During that time, her son was born! Since then, she has been a Science Enrichment instructor at Brea Country Hills Elementary where she has really enjoyed working with students and sharing her passion of Science!

Ms. Susan has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Science Team at the Arbor for over 10 years!  She was one of the first teachers hired when the Arbor began. She has taught so many different science classes in the areas of Chemistry, Engineering, Earth Science, and Life Sciences!  She loves exploring the amazing and fascinating areas of all these Science branches with her students! She feels so much joy being part of the Arbor Learning Community!

Besides volunteering, Ms. Susan enjoys hiking, reading, swimming, spending time with her adult children, exploring any nature areas, and traveling! Because her father worked in the airlines during her childhood, she was able to travel to Chile, Columbia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, England, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, France, and Germany! Now, Ms. Susan hopes to visit her 50th state- North Dakota in May!  Yes, she has traveled to all 49 states!  This was not a goal until she visited her 40th state and then decided why not finish off the even 50!

Ms. Susan enjoys the excitement and knowledge of Science! The way that it helps us begin to look at and understand the world around us! She hopes that she can inspire all her students to appreciate and be in awe of the amazing workings of the world around us! She is married to a Chemist and Robotics Coach who has worked in the aerospace industry for over 35 years and coached the Brea Olinda Robotics team for 8 years!
